Description
Takinosawa Gold is an early-ripening, yellow-fleshed variety that was discovered in Kawanakajima, Nagano Prefecture, as a mutant variety of golden peach. It weighs about 300g and has a plum-like red skin and yellow flesh. Yellow peaches are usually grown in bags, but these peaches are grown without bags and exposed to the sun to increase the sugar content, which gives them a reddish hue skin, like “mango peach”.
The greatest feature of mango peaches is the golden variety’s fine, smooth texture and strong, unique sweet aroma that reminds you of mangoes and papayas. The flesh is a little firm but has a melting sticky texture, and the skin is easy to peel, with an excellent balance of sweet and sour. Above all, it is so rich in juice that it drips with every bite. In fact, it is one of the rare peaches, with only a small amount produced nationwide!
