Description
The area at the foot of Mt. Mino is known as the largest producer of Fuyu persimmons in western Japan. Ukiha’s persimmons are among the best in Japan in both color and sugar content during the persimmon picking season from October to early December.
Fuyu persimmons are known as the “king of sweet persimmons” because of their rich sweetness and elegant appearance. It is the most popular variety produced in Ukiha City, and is extremely popular as a gift or on order. Their non-astringency allows for them to be eaten fresh out of hand at various times during maturation, regardless firm or soft. Their texture is similar to apple when firm, but once riped, it will turn soft and juicy with very high sugar content.
