Description
Born from the crossing of Motegi and Kusunoki, which are the premium varieties of loquat, Suzukaze variety is about 1.5x larger in size than most loquat. It has a refreshing sweetness that is perfect for the name of Suzukaze (涼風), loosely translated as “Cool Breeze”. The sugar content is as high as around 13-14 degrees and has a mellow texture with rich juicy content. Many like Suzukaze because of its high sugar content, but it is treated as a rare loquat due to low production volume compared to other varieties of loquat and is rarely distributed nationwide.
Loquat has a mixture of pear & peach sweet taste and juicy texture, while it does not have any distinct fragrance itself, which makes it favorable to be added to dishes or desserts. You may also enjoy the fruit itself, with skin or without by peeling it off easily like peach.
