Hita pear  (日田梨) is produced in Hita City, Oita Prefecture. Hita City, which was formed in a basin surrounded by mountains, is a city of water through which many rivers, mainly the Chikugo River system, flow. Due to the large number of rivers, this area has been called a water town. It has won the prestigious Emperor’s Cup at the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Festival in 1990, which is only awarded to a handful of farmers and agricultural organizations from all over the country for the best quality produce.
It is due to the abundance of water, the pot-shaped terrain unique to the basin, and the intense cooling of temperature between morning and evening. As such, a unique climate offers an excellent condition and environment for growing fruit trees, stimulating fruits to grow with sweetness and richness.
The catchphrase indicated for this brand is “Hita’s pear throughout the four seasons.” As the name suggests, best varieties will be selected for each season (in the order of Hosui → Akizuki → Niitaka → Shinko → Atago).
Atago Nashi (愛宕梨) is a natural jumbo-sized fruit resulted from a hybrid of two popular varieties, the Nijusseiki (“20th century”) and Imamura-aki.  Its size can grow as large as 20cm in diameter.
It emits a sweet scent and crisp to the texture, not to miss out the juiciness within. As it is usually available year end (Oseibo – New Year), they are carefully wrapped individually and packed in gift box for an exquisite gift for your guest.Â
