Description
<Season Exclusive>
Kantakun was born in 2008 from aged Beni Haruka. In 2005, Oita Prefecture and the agricultural cooperative started trial cultivation in order to brand Oita Prefecture Beni Haruka. The main production areas are Usuki City, where the rich nutritious volcanic ash soil from the eruption of Mt. Aso spreads, and the hilly areas of Bungo Ono City.
After harvesting, Beni Haruka is aged for another 40 days or more to increase its sugar content. Which is why Kantakun’s sugar content is 1.5 times that of regular sweet potatoes! The sugar content of regular sweet potatoes is about 8-10%. Kanta-kun’s sugar content is about 25%! When baked, the sugar content exceeds 40%!
