Matsutake, known as 松茸 (Song Rong), is a highly sought mycorrhizal mushroom that grows in Asia, Europe, and North America. It is prized and popular for its distinct spicy-aromatic odor which was being taken as it stimulates appetite by the Japanese. Growing in deep forests, these mushrooms are uncommon and hard to breed artificially, therefore the scarcity which priced these mushrooms at a relatively high range.
